‘Give me your tired, your poor’

Poem on the the base of the Statue of Liberty

your huddled masses
YEARNING TO BREATHE FREE
the wretched refuse of your teeming shore
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me
“I LIFT UP MY LAMP BESIDE THE GOLDEN DOOR!”

She is a beacon of light – a national treasure. . . And one of the most recognizable
figures in the world!
Each year millions who cherish her ideals make
the journey to experience her history and grandeur . . .
She is the Statue of Liberty, a symbol of freedom…and hope!
God Bless America – and all within her shores!
