Why does it seem of all the seasons, summer swiftly comes and goes? Then autumn with its golden days soon ushers in the silence of winter with winds of blustering snow!
THE hills beyond bathed in summer sun
now with faded flowers and green leaves streaked with brown
Gathering around my feet
Autumn winds breathe upon the leaves leaving me with somber thoughts!
Kneeling upon the ground – how will I
ever rid my thoughts of discontent and pain? And as I pray my whirlwind of thoughts are caught up to heaven to be hidden away!
“For [God’s] thoughts are not [my] thoughts . . . And [His] thoughts are higher than [mine]”

love it
This blog post beautifully captures the transition from autumn to winter and the feelings that come with it. The imagery painted by the words is exquisite. I especially love the line “Autumn winds breathe upon the leaves leaving me with somber thoughts!” It really evokes a sense of melancholy. I’m curious, what inspired you to write this piece?

Thank you so very much for reading my poem. It was inspired by S’t. Lukes Little Summer’
of summer days that occur around October 18th in honor of Stt Lukes feast day. when there is a brief period of
calm dry weather.. It was to me as if the calm, sunny days of summer are so brief and the dark dismal days are so
plentiful. I struggle with OCD, ruminating and obssesive thoughts and started writing poetry to express on
paper hoping to help others who can relate. I feel it has been God’s way to work through the emotional and
diffiicult journeys of life. Again, thank you. God Bless!
