‘The City of Trembling Leaves’*
Do you ever wonder if nature trembles
during winter months? Braving
wind, sleet and icy snow?
Gathering courage to trust new life
to come?
Plodding through our
season’s of troubles, of winter’s
cruel blows, do we trust new life
will be given to us as well?
* Reno, NV known as the
‘City of Trembling Leaves’
It happened while I was sleeping
only yesterday the branches were bare
now an explosion of birth, a feud between
leaves and air 🍀
Whirling and spinning of branches
and trees, pushing the air aside
a million leaves latching, teasing
reaching everywhere 🦚
In the hollow of the tree the bluebird
builds her nest that her family may rest
a worm comes out to play and when he sees
the leaves he quickly slips away 🕊
The flowers nod their heads and grin
as the sun sifts through the shade and
all this was going on while I
was sleeping! 🌷 🌼 🌻
