The Night The Music Died ๐ŸŽน

I had forgotten how it sounded
The lullabies of a mother’s heart!
On that fatal night he chose to part

7๏ธโƒฃ years have slowly approached
If you multiply seven times 10
it could have been close to a
lifespan for him
But if you cut it in half it turns
out to 37 – much too soon!
It happened on the 7th day
of the 7th month of 2011

I am now searching for the
keys to the door of my ๐Ÿค

The night the music died!

๐Ÿ—ฝ HAPPY 4th OF JULY ๐Ÿด โ›ณ

* Poem on the the base of the Statue of Liberty

“GIVE me your tired your poor . . . your huddled masses
– YEARNING TO BREATHE FREE –
the wretched refuse of your teeming shore
Send these – the homeless – tempest-tossed to me
“I LIFT UP MY LAMP BESIDE THE GOLDEN DOOR!” *

She is a beacon of light – a national treasure. . . And one of the most recognizable
figures in the world!
Each year millions who cherish her ideals make
the journey to experience her history and grandeur –

THE STATUE OF LIBERTY ๐Ÿ—ฝ

‘A Father’s Day Reflection’

Some have good memories of a father.

Others have memories they would rather have forgotten. Sometimes we cannot see beyond the one we perceived, the one who failed us as children!

I fashioned as a child an image of a body covered
with a shroud
No ears to hear – no eyes to see – no mouth to
speak
The robe he wore was old and torn with rips and
tears
And if you could see his hair it was long and
untidy
He shuffled with his feet, whispering
defeat
appearing at night in dreams
causing duress
That only a child can dream, receiving little
rest
As I grew up this visitor of the past came less
often
As time filtered through my mind this was
just an –
Apparition of something less divine!

๐Ÿฆ‹ ๐ŸŒฟ dance of the butterflies๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿฆ‹

๐Ÿฆ‹ (a summer fun poetry blog ) ๐Ÿฆ‹

Hanging midst green leaves in their safe cocoons, butterflies emerge on a summer afternoon! Caressing the air, preparing for
flight, butterflies dance in summer sunlight.
Water from fountain
And stream bubble and

flow to the woodwinds
song.

Music takes them
higher, then bowing their heads and folding their wings, as night begins, only to return in sunlight’s glow to dance the butterfly dance again!
