Breakfast by the sea…

My cup was overflowing
my plate full
sitting at the
cafe nestled by the bay
When a storm appeared on the horizon the bay becoming
turbulent

my cup becoming empty and my heart shattered…
On a trip to Mexico with my son, we had a favorite cafe where we
dined, looking over the peaceful sea, little did I know of his sudden
death that would leave me with only memories…

There is a story called
‘Breakfast By The Sea’
When fisherman went out
in their boats and that night they caught
nothing. Then they heard a Man’s voice
saying “Cast your nets on the right side
of the boat”
and their nets were full! When they saw
on shore a fire of coals with fish laid on it, and
bread… a Man’s voice invited them to
“Come and eat breakfast”and they were full.

Never are our cups too empty to be filled to overflowing once more!

Happy Passover on this 5th day of Holy Week!

“So this day shall be to you a memorial…to remind you
of your deliverance from the land of Egypt.”

Exodus 12:14

The Feast of Unleavened Bread is served with special
foods, symbols of the Israelites’ journey from their
land of slavery

“And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough
they had brought out of Egypt…”seven days
you shall eat unleavened bread”

Exodus 12:39

And all of these symbols were a reminder of
God’s Passover, sparing His people

Exodus 12:13

Good morning on this fourth day of Holy Week, also called the Passion Week!

PASSIONS

Its been just short of two decades ago, at Easter time, when one
of the most questionable movies was released that stunned
the world with violent scenes of brutality and graphic images.

‘The Passion Of The Christ’ was witnessed by many in horror
at the cruelty toward an innocent Man, depicting the last twelve
hours of His life, tortured and crucified. What was the reason
for a Man to be beaten and presented as a spectacle to the
world?
Many were perplexed and wondered why? Had the producers
forgotten to include that Christ’s love for us took Him to the
cross, bearing the suffering and pain that we may be saved?

After two exhausting days in Jerusalem,
this day was spent in rest at Bethany in
anticipation of the Passover. Little did
His disciples know of the tragic events
soon to take place in the next few days!

The Mockingbird

Once when I was visiting friends in another area, there was a Mockingbird that
built a nest in their chimney, singing its song by night but never by day!
Sometimes it is difficult to find a song during the dark night of our lives!

The humming bird has its hum, the dove its coo, the robin its song all welcoming the sun

but the Mockingbird has none, only at night is its
song sung

He sits in his nest talking all day, copying everything heard.
Sometimes in a frenzy, sometimes gently, it never gets tired
of its words so lengthy. His throat quivers and shakes, of
a song it is empty… But at night when all is still, its song swells
with a trill, spreading its wings until early morning light!

Happy Wednesday morning!

The first butterfly of spring has appeared, not brightly colored
but giving hope of those who will come!

The Little Cocoon

High on a tree
midst branches and leaves, a shiny green womb with iridescent jewels of emerald and gold, hangs a little cocoon swaying
in the breeze. Winds come up and rain begins to pour, the little cocoon is shaken from side to side, stripped of its jewels and in dismay questions why. It does not know that to live, first it must die!

In the morning sky a new day arises, a door
opening wide
releasing a lustrous
butterfly, no longer
questioning why!

A Safe Passage

The little ship sped on through water and waves, the call had not been heard and the captain and his ship were all that were saved!

Through lightning and thunder a safe passage went before them and
they were not afraid!

And down through
the ages a safe passage
has been given, even to
our time the invitation
goes forth, some will
answer and some will
not. Noah pled with
tears for 120 years.
But they had not listened and the flood
took them all away.

The voice of love and mercy calls today. Will we not enter the Safe Passage before
it is too late?

A very humble refection on
The Book Of Luke chapter 17:27

Happy April! Spring is bursting everywhere!

It happened while I was sleeping
only yesterday the branches were bare
now an explosion of birth, a feud between
leaves and air

Whirling and spinning of branches
and trees, pushing the air aside
a million leaves latching, teasing
reaching everywhere

In the hollow of the tree the bluebird
builds her nest that her family may rest
a worm comes out to play and when he sees
the leaves he quickly runs away

The flowers nod their heads and grin
as the sun sifts through the shade and
all this was going on while I
was sleeping!

Searching for light

Even children seek peace and light
those who have been deprived of childhood
joys have been given a childlike faith in their
journey of life

There is a ladder made of ropes
with six wooden rungs
as in the sky it hung

One of many she must climb
one at a time
She begins to lose faith
when she looks down, with continuous
climbing as she ascends the next rung

There is a wall she cannot ascend
even this ladder will not take her to the
peace within

The rungs are splintering from constant
motion of her feet, shifting with effort to cling
to this rung of defeat

A strong wind comes up as she holds
even tighter, the rung is unable to bear
more strain, with five
more rungs to go, her feet in pain

With one rung left, the wind has stopped
she has climbed six rungs and reached the top
with a seventh rung of peace and rest
she has found the Light!
